Polaris Projects Completes Multiple Time-Bound
Multimodal Shipments in August 2024

Polaris Projects, the project division of Polaris Shipping Agencies LLC, UAE, successfully completed several time-sensitive multimodal shipments in August 2024.

Polaris was nominated by their overseas partners to manage the shipment of six brand-new Komatsu hydraulic excavators and one Komatsu wheel loader for final delivery to Uzbekistan. Since no direct RoRo service to Uzbekistan is available from the UAE, after careful evaluation, the 273 MT/840 CBM shipment—with a maximum unit weight of 49 MT—was shipped via a suitable RoRo vessel to Port Haydarpaşa in Turkey for transshipment to its final destination. The cargo safely arrived in Turkey and is currently en route to Uzbekistan, where it is expected to reach the site shortly.

In addition, Polaris Projects was awarded a cross-trade project involving the shipment of Sany hydraulic excavators from the UAE to Congo, totalling around 38 units. As the receiver’s site requires only 2 to 4 units per delivery, Polaris devised a plan to ship the units to Dar es Salaam via RoRo service, where they will be stored at their nominated facility and subsequently delivered to the receiver as required. The first trial shipment of two units was successfully completed, having arrived at Port Dar es Salaam, and is currently being transported to the receiver’s site. The remaining units will be shipped in multiple batches to meet the receiver’s three-month delivery schedule.

Furthermore, Polaris was awarded a project to ship 11.8-meter-long pipes in 40’ high-cube containers to Azerbaijan. The first batch, consisting of approximately 30 x 40’ high cubes, was shipped to Poti, Georgia, from where it will be transported by truck. Alongside providing competitive ocean freight solutions, Polaris ensured that containers were carefully stuffed following strict safety and handling procedures, as agreed with the client, to accommodate the long multimodal transport route to the destination.
